Bodyworks

A Playful Education Program for Children

Role
As the lead marketing and graphic designer, my role involved conceptually envisioning the visuals for the brand and delivering it.

Deliverables
Social media

Bodyworks is a not-for-profit which works to create healthy and informed students.

Objective

As a sub-brand of ASHA Lectures, Bodyworks serves to create happy and healthy children in Australia. Their workshops and incursions to school encourage primary school students to learn about scientific topics in a fun and engaging way.

Bodyworks approached me to create a collection of branding collateral to support their services. These designs include presentation templates, worksheet templates, social media designs, event promotions (both digital and print) and posters.

  • Given that Bodyworks’ primary focus is on primary school children, this project was a fun and playful exercise for me. I had the opportunity to create fun and exciting designs that would appeal to children. Therefore, I used bold and bright colours to create a positive experience.

  • Going into this project, I knew I wanted to highlight the bright colours to add interest and visual appeal for the young children.

Considering that Bodyworks was focused on being an education program, I had to balance bold colours carefully so that the information was still the primary focus.

  • With the templates in particular, I mainly used a white background on information-heavy pages so that any coloured element would truly stand out.

This differed from the social media designs, whereby I could be as bold and daring as possible with the colours. Given that on Instagram I was only serving bite-sized chunks of information, I could afford to have the design very colourful and not sacrifice the message of the piece.
